The Labcycler 48s features a gold-coated silver block with 48 wells for 0.2 ml tubes in a 6 x 8 arrangement. The thermal conductivity of silver at 429 W/mK results in superior block uniformity compared to aluminum (237 W/mK). Operation with individual tubes and strips is possible. The gold-coated silver block enables high cooling and heating rates: 5.0 °C/s under real operating conditions.
