Manual 96-channel pipette

Liquid handling Manual 96-channel pipette

Manual 96-channel pipettes of the mPlateWizard series transfer all 96 wells of a microtitre plate in a single pipetting stroke—without robotic hardware, yet with robot-comparable throughput. They are available in two volume ranges: mPlateWizard 20M (0.5–20 µl) and mPlateWizard 220M (2–220 µl), both suitable for 96- and 384-well plates.

Manual 96-channel pipette

Manual 96-channel pipette mPlateWizard: Technology and Application

The mPlateWizard models are mechanically operated 96-channel pipettes for daily use with microtitre plates. A single pipetting stroke fills all 96 wells simultaneously, ensuring identical pipetting motion for all channels and high reproducibility without electronic control. The absence of batteries and motors makes the devices low-maintenance and robust for continuous use.

Models and volume ranges

The mPlateWizard 20M operates in the 0.5–20 µl range and is suitable for applications with small volumes such as PCR setup, NGS library preparation, and cell-based assays. The mPlateWizard 220M covers 2–220 µl and is designed for ELISA, immunoassays, and general sample distribution on microtitre plates. List price per model: €14,000.00.

384-well plates

Both models are designed for use on 96- and 384-well plates. On 384-well plates, 96 wells are filled per stroke—a complete plate is processed in four pipetting steps, significantly faster than with 8-channel pipettes (48 steps) or single-channel pipettes (384 steps).

Distinction from the electronic 96-channel pipette

For applications with very small volumes below 1 µl or with increased requirements for dosing accuracy and programmable volumes, the electronic 96-channel pipette ePlateWizard (0.1–300 µl) is recommended. The manual models are the more robust and low-maintenance choice for standard applications with medium to larger volumes.

Frequently asked questions about the manual 96-channel pipette

Answers regarding volume ranges, compatibility, and maintenance of the mPlateWizard series.

What is the advantage of a manual over an electronic 96-channel pipette?

Manual models are battery-independent, lower-maintenance, and more robust in continuous use. They are particularly suitable for standard applications with medium to larger volumes where motor-assisted precision control is not required.

For which plate formats is the mPlateWizard suitable?

Both models are designed for 96- and 384-well plates. On 384-well plates, 96 wells are filled per stroke—four steps for a complete plate.

Which volume ranges do the mPlateWizard models cover?

The mPlateWizard 20M operates in the 0.5–20 µl range, the mPlateWizard 220M in the 2–220 µl range. For smaller volumes from 0.1 µl, the electronic ePlateWizard 10E is available.

Which tips are compatible?

The mPlateWizard pipettes are designed for 96-channel compatible standard tips. Please refer to the product data sheet or contact us directly for compatible tip formats.
