Since the brand acquisition, the ultra-low freezers formerly branded as Sanyo and Panasonic are continued under the name Alphavita. They feature identical model nomenclature (MDF-U...), compatible spare parts, and unchanged device technology. Axon Labortechnik offers these Alphavita successors in three volume capacities ranging from 521 to 861 litres, each equipped with frequency-controlled compressors and VIP insulation.

Since the 1980s, Sanyo manufactured -86°C ultra-low freezers of the MDF-U series, which became established in laboratories worldwide as reliable long-term solutions. Following the acquisition by Panasonic and subsequently by PHC Holdings, the product line is now continued under the Alphavita brand. The model designations (MDF-U581, MDF-U781, MDF-U881) have been retained; laboratories seeking replacements for a Sanyo or Panasonic unit will find the direct successor in the Alphavita series.
All Alphavita models operate with frequency-controlled inverter compressors that adjust their performance based on load, thereby significantly reducing energy consumption compared to conventional compressors. VIP (Vacuum Insulation Panel) panels in the cabinet walls minimise heat ingress with reduced wall thickness. The achievable minimum temperature is -86°C, with operation typically occurring between -75°C and -80°C. Capacities: 320 cryoboxes (521 l), approx. 460 boxes (736 l), and approx. 540 boxes (861 l) in 2-inch format.
Due to the continuity of the model series, Alphavita units can be integrated into existing laboratory structures based on Sanyo or Panasonic equipment: storage systems, racks, and boxes in 2-inch format are compatible. For GMP-regulated environments, the units support re-qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) based on the supplied manufacturer documentation.
