Temperature monitoring for ULT freezers: Data loggers and alarm forwarding

Seamless recording and forwarding of temperature data is mandatory in GMP-regulated laboratory environments and serves as a useful safeguard against sample loss due to unnoticed temperature deviations, even outside of regulatory requirements. ULT freezers generally feature an integrated alarm and a potential-free contact to which external monitoring systems can be connected.

Wi-Fi data loggers

Wi-Fi data loggers transmit measured values wirelessly and automatically alert users via email or SMS if limit values are exceeded, without requiring on-site presence. The Testo Saveris 2-T3 covers a measuring range from -195°C to +40°C, making it suitable for the entire ULT range. The Mobeye PowerGuard CM4100 connects directly to the cabinet's potential-free alarm contact (2 alarm inputs) and forwards alarms via mobile network.

Wired data loggers

For documentation-compliant recording without network connection, the PDF temperature data logger EBI 310 TE (measuring range -200°C to +250°C, external PT1000 sensor) and the LOG 100 Cryo (measuring range -200°C to +350°C, incl. PT1000 sensor, wall bracket, data cable, and software) are available. Both devices are suitable for transport and storage monitoring and generate evaluable reports.

Alarm forwarding via telephone/SMS

For locations without stable Wi-Fi infrastructure or as supplementary redundancy, telephone alarm forwarding devices are available. The Mobeye ThermoGuard TwinLog (starter kit incl. power supply unit) handles logging, display, and alerting via call, SMS, or email. The telephone dialler with LC display offers 4 alarm inputs for direct connection to multiple devices.
